The Oikospielen Opera is developing an epic global-gaming festival called THE GEOSPIEL, scheduled for the year 2100. The opera's employees, organized by the Union of Animal Workers, are trying to integrate the game dev dogs of Koch Games into their group, but these loyal pups love their jobs and boss Donkey Koch too much! Will there be Unity and community, or will Multiplicity and individuality prevail? Money has awakened-- Pluto has captured the spirit of Orpheus, and Eurydice is lead composer in this operatic RE-FORM of the Adventure Game genre.
David began the project in November of 2014. It is conceptually based on a network of "material puns", for instance, that opera means "works", that Oikos means "household" & is the root of ECO (eco-nomy, eco-logy), and that spiel means "play". David set out to explore these concepts by material means-- this process entailed various forms of working, including spending money, writing words, turning words into money, turning money into words into 3D or MIDI, and, principally, arranging the household of these various pieces of 'furniture' by Marie Kondo's joy-sparking principles to maximize virtual feng shui -- the Power of the movement of wind and water (actually-- breath and blood, the Player moving through the Computer), or biopower -- as principally made affective by virtue of handling the Content -- in an inversion of the Formalist impulse.
DK's prior projects include Proteus (with Ed Key), Panoramical (with Fernando Ramallo, et al), Dyad (with Shawn McGrath), and others. His music and designs have been nominated 3 times for the IGF Nuovo award and he has won Best Music twice at Indiecade, and once at AZplay, and "Most Amazing Game" at AMAZE for Proteus.
